I was just peeking around at some cooking blogs and came across this, the way we all do links. And I just had to say something after reading this one. I am 48 and have 3 children: a daughter, 19 and finishing up her first year of college; a son, 17 and about to start his senior year of high school next fall; and a son, 14, going to high school for the first time next fall. So it's been a while since I saw a little fist waving above the bassinet, or wiped drool, or smelled that unforgettable babyhead smell...but I still miss it so much. I guess if I could have, I would have had a dozen...

Anyway, thanks for the post. It brought back a lot of wistfully wonderful feelings. :)

Just last week I sent a message to some of my FB network asking if they had any maternity clothes to donate for an acquaintance who could really use them. A friend emailed me to say she had some things, so I went by her house to pick them up, only to find that some of the items in the bag were some of MY maternity clothes that I had given to her. Now that I have them back, I feel as though I don't want to part with them again! To make matters worst, I have learned that these clothes won't fit my new friend, so now I have a bag of maternity clothes that would be so perfect for me, and no reason to keep them! Just when I thought I was completely over that whole baby thing..... :|

I think it is so neat that while you are feeling nostalgic about the passing of this phase, your sister is talking about her baby being a senior in high school, and your other sister is commenting about the shared sleeper. All these are just passages and life is full of them, isn't it?

Goes very fast. You make perfect kids! That sleeper--how cool that it has been through all our kids. With the oldest in high school and the youngest just out of the bassinet . . . pretty neat. Love you!

It is so bittesweet isn't it? We are in a similar boat. Love, Love, Love babies, but with four, we are done as well, and we feel complete. But every once in awhile, I think I will miss the baby days!
