I like/need steam cleaning, for health reasons. All units seen previously, were far too costly for our budget; this unit was on the sale table at Home Despot--I thot we could finally afford a steam cleaning unit.
Unfortunately, even at about $50, the Hoover Twin Tank steam cleaner was STILL overpriced for what it delivered!

IMHO, manufacturers & marketers take advantage of lower-income buyers by foisting off badly made units--it speaks to how their workers & manufacturing lines are treated/handled.

What the unit did:
==1st time used: hot stuff! It made great steam; had to wash the pad multiple times to finish the sq. ft. of floors, but it did about as expected.
I used the trigger often, to let out steam, especially on dirty spots, but, that seamed to let out too much moisture, so had to limit how often the trigger was used. Liked the design; it handled well.
Tried it on carpets: it removed a bit of grime, steamed well to kill mites; but, left too much water in the carpet--so figured, best only on solid surface floors.
This fails 1st intended use.

==2nd time used: less steam, but still seemed to be doing some job; rewashed the pad a few times as before, to do the whole job.
Used the trigger less, to try limiting how much water ended up on the floors.
This is starting to fail 2nd intended use: it's causing more work, not less, as I needed to use rags/other dry mop to soak up the water left behind.

==Then the storage tray started having a lot of fluid puddling in it, so took the tanks off while stored--good thing it sat where it could be monitored, or it would have really messed up the closet!

==3rd time used: lots of water, hardly any steam--had to use mop/rags to clean up water, or it would have taken many hours to air dry.

==4th time, attempted use: -zero- steam; unit felt barely warm. Unit is FUBAR'd.
Water drizzled out both tanks where tanks connected with the unit.
Unit made NO sounds of making steam; unit was barely warm to touch.
Trigger did nothing.
Unit is total failure.

This unit has not been used enough to "get blocked" by mineral salts caused by steam, as a few others suggested.
The seals between tanks & unit failed.
The Heating unit failed.
It's a defective unit.
From the posts on Amazon, quite a number of people got defective units.
Hoover's production line is faulty, that they let out so many defective units for sale.

I understood that buying this on a closeout sale at Home Despot, there's no returning it, & it's been longer than 3 months.
Unless we can take it apart & fix it ourselves, it's about to become an unfortunate chunk of landfill.
Shame on Hoover for allowing such shoddy products to be marketed!

I've always been afraid to use one of these, the contractor who installed out hardwood warned us to never use steam mops on hardwood as the steam gets into the pores more then standing water/moping does over time. Glad to hear its working for you!
