For the cookies
1/2cupbutter-flavored shortening
1cuppacked light brown sugar
1 largeegg
1/2 cupwhole chocolate milkVitamin D, full fat Chocolate Milk
1teaspoonvanilla extract
2ouncesunsweetened or semi-sweet chocolatemelted
1 3/4cupsall-purpose flour
1 teaspoonbaking powder
1/4teaspoon baking soda
1/2teaspoonsalt
For the frosting
1/2cupbuttersoftened
4cupspowdered sugar
1 1/2teaspoonsvanilla
6Tablespoonswhole chocolate milkVitamin D, full fat chocolate milk
Instructions
For the cookies
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the shortening and brown sugar. Add in the egg, chocolate milk, and vanilla. Pour in the melted chocolate and mix on medium speed until well blended.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda; gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix on low until fully incorporated.
Drop dough by the spoonful, 2-inches apart onto a silpat or parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake for 12-13 minutes. Remove from the oven then transfer cookies to wire cooling rack. Frost when cooled to room temperature.
For the frosting
In a medium mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in vanilla extract and chocolate milk until creamy. Frosting should be smooth and easy to spread onto cooled cookies.
For best results and freshness, store frosted cookies in an airtight container.
Notes
For the best chocolate flavor, only use WHOLE chocolate milk. 2% will not provide a strong chocolate flavor.
