Hi! we made this and it was great! we didn't have vanilla extract so we substituted with rum extract. It still turned out really good. The sugar amount was exact! It is however very filling, and we made double amount so we were left with many wdffles. It was impssible to eat more than 2! haha.

In reply to <a href="https://www.dineanddish.net/homemade-dessert-waffles-recipe/#comment-513675">Gaby</a>.

Hi Gaby - Thanks for your feedback. They actually are intended to be eaten with ice cream. I don't have time to experiment right now, but my absolute favorite breakfast waffle recipe involves separating the egg whites (using the yolks), then beating the egg whites until they are fluffy and folding them into the batter. Then you'd cook as normal. That might be something you could try to make them a little less dry and more airy.
These ones are more crispy (yet still soft) because if you put ice cream on them you'll want them to stand up to that. Anyway, a slight chocolate drizzle could stand up to airy waffles...I'd give the egg white trick a try. Thank you!

I made them, taste is great but they were waaaaayy to dry. Now I am assuming that is intended to be eating with ice ream ,which will make up for the lack of moist but, is any way that I could improve your recipe to make it less dry? I am trying to serve dessert waffles on a stick with only a drizzle of chocolate so it will be too dry. Any help will be highly appreciated
