  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 2/4 cup Homemade BBQ Sauce see below for recipe
  • Homemade BBQ Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 Tablespoons molasses
  • 2 teaspoons liquid hickory smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon chili powder

  1. For the Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Chicken
  2. Season the chicken with the salt, garlic powder, and pepper to taste. Place it in a slow cooker and pour 3/4 cup of BBQ sauce over the chicken.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the chicken is falling apart. Shred the chicken with 2 forks and serve.
  4. For the BBQ Sauce (makes 2 cups - more than you need for the BBQ chicken recipe)
  5. In a large saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, vinegar, tomato paste, honey, molasses, liquid smoke, salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, and chili powder. Bring to a simmer over low heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 15-20 minutes.
  6. The sauce will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
