This Spicy Almonds Recipe is so easy and makes the most flavorful salad topper.

Here we are, the first part of December, and in typical Kristen fashion I’m not posting a holiday treat or festive recipe. I suck at this blogging thing sometimes! Reality is, if I have all the festive treats around, I will eat them all. And although Weight Watchers has changed their program to the new Freestyle plan, I’m pretty sure that doesn’t include eating every sugar cookie and cake ball in sight.

So, here I am today, with a Spicy Almonds recipe that is not sweet or festive, but is what I’m eating now and loving. My friend Aggie said she thinks a jar of these would make a great gift. Now that she mentions it, I totally agree. Let’s pretend this is a festive, holiday related post keeping the gifting ability of these spicy almonds in mind. Okay?…

It’s that time of year where my self control goes out the window. With all the cookies, candies and cocktails everywhere we look, staying on track to maintain a healthy lifestyle isn’t the easiest. Have you all heard of “Dinner en Blanc”? I hadn’t either, but it’s a pretty cool thing where a bunch of guests dressed in white meet for a secret dinner, in an all white decorated location. You can read about this coveted dinner on the Forbes Magazine website. I can guarantee you I will never be a recipient of a “Dinner en Blanc” invitation because me eating while wearing all white and surrounded in all white sounds a bit like a nightmare for this klutz. I’d be the first to spill and stain everything around me.

My friends at California Avocados decided it’d be fun to take an avocado inspired spin on the whole “Dinner en Blanc” idea with “Dinner en Green”. Do you see where they are going with this? Dinner, with green accessories and green food. Green, just like the beautiful California Avocado. …

It’s California Avocado season again!

This means it’s that time of year where we get beautiful California Avocados delivered to our doorstep, then we continue to eat them in absolutely everything. In fact, Leah and I will often just slice open an avocado, sprinkle it with Kosher salt and pepper, and count that as our lunch. She’s my little avocado eater…last week she ate 3 in one day. Then she had a giant bowl of this marinated salad!

I wish all my kids were as good of eaters as she is! She gives me that kind of good positive reinforcement I need when I’m cooking. I love cooking for her!…

Friends… I am finally manning the grill!

If you’ve been following Dine & Dish at all over the past few years, you know that grilling has not been my thing, despite really wanting to learn how. It wasn’t because I lacked eagerness. It was because I just so happened to like being alive and was terrified of figuring out all the tricks to turning on our beloved “ghetto grill”.
