I’ve been working from home now for almost 15 years. Yes, that’s right… it’s been 15 years since I’ve stepped foot in an office to do the normal 9-5 grind. On most days, I absolutely love working from home. I can set my schedule to be whatever I want it to be, I can be there when my kids need me without having to ask a boss for time off, I can wear whatever the heck I want, there’s no bad traffic and commute, and I can take a nap whenever I want! It’s a pretty sweet setup.

Would you like to know what I miss the most about not going into the office everyday? The doughnuts, bagels, cookies, cupcakes, treats that could always be found in the break room. I guess it’s a blessing to not be tempted by that stuff all the time, but sometimes I am working during the day and just really, really want a sweet treat!…

I can’t hold myself back… it’s well into September now, which I think is quite the safe time to go full throttle pumpkin. Goodbye white pants and shoes, hello pumpkin!

I love summer, there’s no doubt about that, but I love fall just as much. Our family always takes a trip out to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch for a full day of fall activities. It is one of my most favorite days each year! Plus, as a photographer, I can’t help but love the photo opportunities at the pumpkin patch. The light is always the most wonderful, golden hue and the natural props all around are just too hard to pass up. By the time the sun sets, my kids are pictured out but my heart is always full and happy!…

I know, I know… here it is still August and I’m already sharing something pumpkin with you. I promise this isn’t the start of shoving pre-season pumpkin down your throat (there will be plenty of that to come). This Banana Pumpkin Breakfast Shake is, instead, a result of the fact that I still have a zillion and ten cans of pumpkin in my pantry leftover from last year.

So, can we talk breakfast for a moment? Out of my 4 kids, I have one who does not like to eat breakfast. Leah (4) will eat raw bell peppers, tomatoes, goat cheese, salsa verde… just about anything, but she is never hungry at breakfast and doesn’t want breakfast. Friends, we need to talk about eggnog. Specifically, where you are on the love / hate scale with it?

Eggnog is one of those things where each year around this time, I get incredibly tempted by the freshly stocked shelves of eggnog. Things go down exactly like this…

I purchase a 1/2 gallon of eggnog
As soon as I get it home, I have one small glass
As soon as I finish drinking that one glass, I remember I really don’t love eggnog
I spend the next week using my eggnog in recipes, because I do really like the flavor of eggnog, just not actual eggnog itself.
