$100 Sports Authority Gift Card Giveaway from Together Counts

I was recently introduced to the Together Counts initiative – a movement towards encouraging families to eat together and to get moving together. Our family has the eating together down… family mealtime is and has been a priority for us for quite some time. The moving together, however, is something we aren’t consistently great at.

How often, as a parent, do you passively sit and watch as your kids are playing outside? The Together Counts initiative is empowering families to be the force for change by creating active healthy habits for all family members…not just the kids.

Summer is here, and after a long winter hibernation, I can’t wait to pick up our nightly family walks and bicycle rides again. I know that when my kids see Nick and I setting the example for an active lifestyle, they are more likely to adopt that lifestyle for themselves. What better way to encourage a healthy lifestyle than to join together as a family with a commitment to healthy living?

The Together Counts website offers everyone the opportunity to share what they ate together as a family as well as their healthy family activity for the day. Just viewing the website and checking out what other families are doing offers up inspiration for my own family.

    We love going for walks and being outside. Fortunately we live on state park land, so it’s a great environment for that.

    I’m sure each member of my family would name a different “favorite” activity. Some of the activities we’ve enjoyed together include: white-water rafting, trail riding, and (moderate) hiking. My kids are involved with sports and another thing we enjoy together is watching whomever happens to be playing at the time. Thanks for the giveaway.

    I long to be a family that moves together. We do share family walks and play at the park alot-but I can’t wait to hike, bike, kayak,etc. That is kinda hard to do with a two year old!

    Now its summer so that means we’ll be moving in the pool a lot these next few months.

    Hello! Our family’s favorite “together” activity is walking through Valley Forge National Park…we love to see who can spot the most deer while we walk the 5.5 miles!     Our favorite family activity is hanging out at the beach together. We do that when on vacation and our “everyday” kind of family activity is hiking the trails in the parks near our house. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome giveaway!

    We like to take walks together. We’ll walk to a grocery store a mile away, pick up a few things, and walk back home. It’s nice to get some fresh air!

    My boys currently love baseball, so our favorite family activity is to head out to the yard to practice our catching and batting!

    We love to do outdoor trips….the zoo, the botanical gardens, camping, walks, you name it…if it’s outside, we like it.

    I love this initiative! With baseball season in full swing, we are always outside throwing the ball… we also enjoy heading off for bike rides to a local park!

    We love to swim every Friday at the local pool. We play a family game, talk and watch a movie on Sunday evenings. We love being together as a family!!!!

    Liked them on FB!!! Would love to have some new sports equipment for our family! We’d love to have a new basketball and goal or maybe soccer balls or maybe new water toys and goggles for swimming at the pool or a new paddle for the kayak (since we loaned it out and it did not return w/ a paddle LOL).

    One of our favorite family activities is mountain bike riding. We’re blessed to live by some GREAT trails & thankfully there are some that aren’t too strenous for us all to do together 🙂

    My 4 and 2 year old love taking “nature” walks through the paths around our town. They are always amazed at the everyday things we see and it gets us all up and moving!

    oh my to choose one family activity……hmm well I guess the easiest one is walking to the park. My daughter is big into this one right now. Every night she asks if we can go to the park. We also love to camp, hike, fish. So ready for the warmer weather

    The family that plays together stays together. Wonderful to look at couples having the time of their lives playing with their kids. Not only does it keep you healthy and trim, makes you feel and look younger too.

    There is nothing like a good ol family game of bocce ball! My family loves to play this game together! Mom/Dad vs Kids; Mom/Daughter VS Father/Son; Momma/Momma’s Boy VS Daddy/Daddy’s Girl… All combos are a totally different treat!

    Lately, it’s been WII Dance Dance Fever – Based on the kid’s reaction, Mom’s doesn’t have very good moves – but it’s a ton of fun….Now that it’s warmer outside – it’s time for walks and…..we just bought a spring free tamp – that should be interesting….
