Keurig Love and the K-Cup Ambassador Program

Dine & Dish readers…in the month of May, use the code AM0001-3571 to receive a 15% discount plus free standard shipping off Keurig Home Brewers when you purchase from www.GreenMountainCoffee.com.

I have never been an at home coffee drinker. I have always been one of those crazy people you see shelling out the dough in the Starbucks drive through – spending $5 each time I needed a coffee fix.

Recently I was approached by Keurig to see if I would be interested in being part of the K-Cup Ambassador program. I had heard some of my friends talk about how much they love their Keurig’s and K-Cup’s so I thought it would be worth checking out.

Our Keurig and a variety of K-Cups arrived a couple of weeks ago and I have turned into a “non at home coffee drinker” to one of those people you see who always has a cup of coffee in her hand. The Keurig makes it so easy to brew a cup of coffee… in a little over a minute I can have a tall cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and more, made the way I want it. Plus, I don’t have to get all flustered in front of the menu board as I try to decipher what size or flavor I want my latte to be.

Over the next twelve months I’ll be sharing Keurig and K-Cup giveaways and promotional discount codes special for Dine & Dish readers. In the month of May, use the code AM0001-3571 to receive a 15% discount plus free standard shipping off Keurig Home Brewers when you purchase from www.GreenMountainCoffee.com.

You can tell by my cheesy video that I’m in love with my Keurig… way more than I ever thought I would be!

Do you have a Keurig? What is your favorite K-Cup variety?

This post is sponsored by Keurig and K-Cup. However, I love my Keurig and would be shouting about it from the rooftops to share its greatness with you anyway!

Kristen, I think I was one of those friends waxing poetical about my Keurig to you. I couldn’t live without it. My favorite flavor is the Pumpkin Spice, which is a seasonal Autumn flavor. I could drink it every day though, and am hopeful that with enough love, we can turn it into a year round flavor, just like was done in the past with the Blueberry coffee I know you love so much. It was originally a Spring-seasonal flavor.

The video of you and Leah is TOO cute!

What a cute and yes a tiny bit goofy but in a good way video, ha! You know I love ya so I am allowed to say goofy ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have been so curious about that machine since I too have friends who have one. I usually only have coffee at home on the weekends because that is the only time my hubby makes it. During the week he is gone by the time I am running out the door so instead I do the drive through and buy my coffee a few times a week. Ahh, the stuff I could buy with that $! I have a birthday coming up so maybe I can convince the hubby into getting this for me ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for sharing!!

I love our Keurig…..we have had it about a year and I rarely go out to get a latte any more….my favorite right now is the donut shop coffee and timothy’s italian roast. Also would like to try the iced coffees soon.

Cute video, Kristen! Do you know if any of the k-cups come with organic coffee? I’m a nature nut and like to get coffee that is grown sustainably ๐Ÿ™‚ If not, maybe you could encourage them to consider it… xo

      May 31, 2011 at 9:55 am

yes they do have organic. If you go to keurig.com you can look at all their choices! If you scroll down the left side of the page there are several ways to filter your choices.. organic is one of them!

I have a mini-cup Keurig…a present from my mom. LOVE IT. Though it hasn’t stopped me from getting those expensive coffees from you know who (Mocha Coconut Frapp anyone?) I use it all the time on weekends when I’m too lazy to get up and go outside.

My fav is “Donut Shop” coffee which I can order off Amazon.

I go back and forth between wanting one of these single cup machines and balking at how much more money each of the individual packs costs versus a few scoops of what we currently use. Not to mention the extra packaging and waste they generate. Even if they’re recyclable, that’s the last of the “3 R’s” that we should focus on. And I’m not even a big green advocate. But part of me thinks that if I got one of these for free I’d probably love it too.

    • Kristen says

      May 10, 2011 at 4:06 pm

See, and if I were an at home coffee drinker in the first place, I’d probably wonder the same thing. Right now, I’m saving money compared to my old habits ๐Ÿ™‚
However, Keurig does have a reusable K-Cup coffee filter that would be perfect for those of you who enjoy your own scoop of ground coffee… and it the key to reducing waste. http://www.amazon.com/Keurig-K-Cup-Reusable-Coffee-Filter/dp/B000DLB2FI

      • Mama__B says

        May 10, 2011 at 5:51 pm

That makes sense. We don’t drink much in the way of $$$ coffee (except when Starbucks offers their pumpkin spice latte – YUM!). But we do each drink a cup or two at home every day. Looking at the reviews of the reusable filter, it doesn’t look terribly useful. Lots of problems with the quality of the coffee and the product itself. I guess it’s all still pretty new. At some point something might come out that provides consistent quality without the cost of individual packets.

check out the K-kaps…http://www.my-kap.com/MYK/… I love them!! I can use the cups about 6-8 times before having to throw them away. It takes a little time to rince them out but to me it is worth it. You can use any coffee.. and reuse the cups!

P.S. Where did you get that cafe de doyle sign on the wall? Is there such a place or did you have it made? Love it!! I’m thinking I need a cafe de delynn for my new place some time down the road!

Looking forward to the Houlihan girls!!

My mom almost sold our Keurig AND our Kitchenaid mixer and I nearly DIED. I said “I don’t care if they live in the basement, you can save them for my future wedding someday but DO NOT GIVE THEM AWAY!” I love the Keurig. My work has one and my daily cup of joe is half hot cocoa and half hazelnut. It saves me the trip to the fridge to steal someone’s creamer that way ๐Ÿ™‚

I love my Keurig so much! I have had it for over 3 years. My favorite coffee is constantly changing so I keep a large variety of k-cups on hand and enjoy having a different flavor every day. One of my all-time favorites is Golden French Toast! And because it is seasonal, I stock up!

I’ve tossed this around for months now – whether it’s worth the $$$ or not. As a retiree, it would be fabulous to brew a cup whenever ~ Just wonder about the cost of the K-cups. Seems there are so many flavors plus tea and cocoa. Wow! Perhaps I’ll put one of these on my wish list. ๐Ÿ™‚

We just got one last week! I gave it to my hubby for his birthday, but shhhh, don’t tell him I really got it for me. ๐Ÿ™‚ We love it!!! Now I can have my flavored coffee and he can have his boring extra bold brew. We can both make iced tea and cocoa. And there’s no messy grinds to clean up and throw away. We’re in heaven and can’t wait to try all the different blends! Coffee never tasted so good. I’ll be on the look out for your giveaways and promo codes! Thanks, Kristen!!

Where does the $5 Starbucks coffee myth come from? At my local store, they have one $5 item, the very large chocolaty coconut frappacino thingy that’s so big, it should be shared by three good friends. Their coffee is $1.50, same as McDonalds and Dunkin’s. In fact, nearly all of their beverages are cheaper than comparable drinks at McD’s, Dunkin’s, Einsteins, or anywhere else.

Sorry for the rant, but math โ€” our society’s general phobia towards it and our innumeracy โ€” is my exposed raw nerve.

Quick question: is the Keurig another low pressure machine, like the Senseo or Tassimo, or high pressure, like the Nespresso?

    Cheers!

    • Kristen says

      May 11, 2011 at 7:19 pm

Hi Steve! I usually get a Grande Skinny Caramel Latte and it is $4.83 (so rounded up, 5 bucks). I wish it was only a $1.50 here!

I am so new to at home coffee, I’m not sure, but when I googled it it appears to be a pressurized machine.

      Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
