The Rock Your Happy Newsletter #4 – Bye Bye Busy Bragging

RYH Newsletter 4

Happy Friday, Friends!

How was your week? This week went by so fast for some reason. My kids were off school starting on Thursday and don’t go back until Tuesday. Those of you who know me know that I love having my kids home…I love having the opportunity to slow down some, and to recoup from our normally full schedules.

Speaking of busy, I was thinking this week about how “busy” everyone is lately. It seems like it’s a badge of honor to spout off our laundry list of things we have to do to each other. How did we get to a point in society where busy was something to brag about? I’ll be honest with you, I rather admire those people who admit to not doing it all and who take time to just chill every once in awhile. A jam packed schedule is hard to avoid, but I think it’s time to move “busy bragging” into a thing of the past.

Does not being busy equal laziness? I don’t think so. I think that most people I know who take time to clear their schedules and pride themselves on a balanced busyness are some of the hardest working people I know. However, with that said, they also know the key to achieving happiness is by prioritizing their mental health, which means not over booking their schedules.

Anyway, I’d love to know your thoughts on the “busy bragging” status symbol. Are you a busy bragger? I know I can be and am trying really hard to eliminate busyness from our lives. I want my kids to grow up knowing how to balance relaxing and productivity! Any tips? Hit reply and share them with me!

Now, let’s move on to things that made me happy this week!

Lent started this week, which for many of us means more meatless meals! We had this for lunch on Wednesday and it was so good and easy! I plan on making it often during the Lenten season.

I’ve been updating posts on Dine & Dish from 10 years ago, and discovered that I used to be so witty…a much more entertaining writeri than I am now! It was sad to me to see how my blog has changed because it’s turned into a career versus just a hobby. Then I read this fantastic post by a friend of mine, and realized, I’m not the only one. (Plus the recipe with her post? WHOA.)

I was able to take a peek into the behind the scenes of this new product launch, and the beta users are so happy. If you need fashion demystified like I do, you should sign up and take this e-course with me! In fact, this is what Nick is getting me for Valentine’s Day (remember…be clear with what you want to avoid un-met expectations).

I want to move into this blog…like live within the pages. Isn’t it beautiful?

I  need these tips in my life…to help tame the busyness and organize it some.

I’m thinking this yumminess for our Valentine’s Day dessert on Sunday. CRAVING!

Totally viscous but so dang cute! This made me smile and laugh out loud this week.

I’m coveting the books in this picture and plan on putting many of her tips into place!

This post…yes. Just yes. She understands it’s ok not to be a busy bragger.

My book review post this week will include this psychological thriller (on the edge of my seat plus it’s currently free for Kindle Unlimited users!), this awesome cookbook(perfect for date night), and this modern classic (which I’ve enjoyed too).

Well, that’s it for this week, friends! Make sure you click through the links and show some love to the people/sites I shared. Also, let’s chat! Hit reply and let me know how you are doing and what’s making you happy this week!

Have a great weekend!
