One of the best compliments someone can share with me is to say my home is cozy, warm and inviting. I hope people walk into our home and feel at ease, like a cozy quilt wrapped around them.

Of course, with 4 kids in the house, cozy is sometimes hard to achieve, but we still try. I love having quilts all around, soft lamp lighting and candles lit, as well as some kind of soft, calming music playing. I always say I don’t keep my house spotless because I want anyone and everyone to feel comfortable walking in the door (of course, I say that’s my excuse for not keeping a perfect house, anyway…;) ). …

I’ll be the first to admit that I sometimes over complicate things. Especially when it comes to cooking and baking. Instead of heading for my tried and trusty recipes, I always find myself searching the internet, magazines and cookbooks looking for something “newer and better”. This leaves my tried and true recipes… the ones that are tried and true because they are AMAZING…sitting in dusty corners, sometimes to be forgotten….

Friends, I am so excited to share this homemade bread recipe with you to today. I’ve made a lot of bread over the past 9 years on Dine & Dish and I’ve loved so many of them, but this Herb and Sun Dried Tomato Pull Apart bread may be one of my favorite bread recipes, yet.

Here’s what I love about making homemade bread… it’s kind of like magic. You put a little flour, eggs, milk, salt, etc. into a bowl, add some Fleischmann’s® Yeast, and before you know it after some kneading, time and a little bit of patience, you have a beautiful loaf of homemade bread in front of you. OK, there may be a little more involved than that, but homemade bread is really such a simple thing once you’ve had some practice. Every time I make a loaf, I feel like I’m baking up a little bit of happiness in a pan. People love homemade bread…and sharing it with others is such a great gift! …

This girl…

For the past 10 years she’s been my biggest helper in the kitchen. I couldn’t wait to get her in, cooking with me. As soon as she could sit up, I’d drag her high chair in and she’d sit watching me cook, banging measuring cups on her tray. She soon went from watching, to doing, and now… at the age of 10, can take on many recipes with little supervision….

Over the next few weeks I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite things and doing some extra special giveaways to celebrate! Why giveaways? Well, because Dine & Dish wouldn’t be what it is today without your love and support and I want to share my thanks with you by giving back.

When I started Dine & Dish 7 years ago I had no idea what great joy this little site would bring me. I have developed friendships, created wonderful work relationships, have traveled and experienced things I’ve never even imagined, I’ve gained new skills, have been able to contribute to our family financially and most of all, I’ve been able to do it all from home while raising my kids.

Dine & Dish is not even close to the biggest blog out there, but I have the BEST readers, hands down. Thank you all so, so much for being such an important part of my life and for taking the time to click over and read what I share. It means more to me than I could ever tell you.

Without further ado, I’d like to share the first of many giveaways with you! …

Hearty whole grain bread with oatmeal, nuts, wheat bits and more… the more stuff baked inside the bread, the better. I not so affectionately called it old people bread. Oh, how I longed for soft, tender pieces of white Wonder bread. It rarely happened… at our house my parents loved old people bread so that’s what we all got.

Fast forward to today… I can’t get enough of old people bread. I love real butter slathered on a slice of whole grain bread or thick oatmeal bread…or “oldmeal” bread….

I have a confession to make. I Love, with a capital L, Sausage Cheese McMuffins from McDonald’s.

I blame it on Leah. This love began when I was pregnant with her. I couldn’t stomach meat of any kind, but for some reason craved Sausage Cheese McMuffins like they were going out of style. It was probably a good thing McDonald’s only had a short time window for breakfast, or I’d have a perpetual spot in their drive thru.

Pregnancy came and went but my craving for the Sausage Cheese McMuffins stuck around. Seriously, isn’t it a perfect little breakfast idea? Hand held, with sausage and cheese (a breakfast combo of champions) and super tasty.

I hate giving up money to McDonald’s though, especially when I know I can make something better at home. Enter Homemade English Muffins, made simple in the bread machine. Seriously, friends… I took one bite and wanted to kick myself for not making these at home sooner. You can’t get ANYTHING close to these at the super market. If you can, I sure haven’t found them on any of my store shelves.

So, here you have it…breakfast, lunch or dinner right here, in your own kitchen, with your very own Sausage and Cheese on Homemade English Muffins. Enjoy!
