Every single time I use my slow cooker I wonder why I don’t pull it out more often. The Slow Cooker is seriously one of the best inventions on the planet for busy people like you and me. Why oh why don’t I use it all the time instead of pulling it out just here and there?

When I do pull it out and cook with it, I feel so accomplished that I have dinner planned and and on its way to ready before even breakfast is over. I love things that make me feel like I have my act together!…

Raise your hand if you are like me… on days when you use the slow cooker, you feel so proud of yourself. It’s like for once, you REALLY have your act together. I absolutely love my slow cooker (this is the one I currently use) and I feel like such a rock star when I remember to put ingredients in it in the morning, and a ready meal appears at night in time for us to sit down for dinner. I don’t often get to feel like a rock star parent (just ask me how many times I’ve put ingredients IN the slow cooker and forgot to turn it on… ooops!), so when I do, it’s a wonderful thing.

Today, I’ve partnered with 8 wonderful bloggers, my friends at The Ohio Pork Council and the Ohio Soybean Council to bring you a roundup of simple slow cooker recipes featuring pork. These recipes are so easy and amazingly good, you’ll feel like a rock star each time you prepare one in your slow cooker to feed to your family….

I know what you are thinking… peaches in October? Kristen! What’s up with that?

I know, I know… peaches are totally not a fall food, but I love them! I love them so much that I over purchased peaches this summer and ended up having to freeze a bunch. If you have peaches you froze and are looking for a nifty way to use some of them up, I’d like to suggest this Peach Slow Cooker Dessert recipe. …

A super simple Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Recipe. Watch how we make this pulled pork recipe in our Crockpot once and enjoy several meals in a week from it!

Autumn, to me, is almost like the New Year. In fact, my dear friend, Pamela, has told me before that she uses October as a kind of new year… a way to start fresh, set goals and get organized for the coming year. We’re both Libras, which means we have October birthdays. Maybe that’s why I feel the need to get my rear in gear a bit every autumn? 41 is approaching quickly… I can’t leave 40 behind in a state of disaster that it currently is, can I?

Lately, I’ve been knee deep in trying to schedule things… making plans, of sorts, for my life and business. This includes getting back to menu planning. Remember when I used to share a weekly menu plan here on Dine & Dish? Those were the days! I don’t know what’s happened with my prior organization skills between then and now, but they seem to have flown out the window….

Something strange has happened in our house. My “ice cream three times a day and a Snickers bar for breakfast” husband has turned health conscious. He’s always looked healthy…but maybe the thought of turning 40 and the rumored to happen 40 year old slower metabolism has given him the desire to actually eat healthy as well. Either way, when he came to me the other day asking where our granola was to go atop his non-fat Greek yogurt, I may have asked him to repeat himself a few times. Then, I may have followed him to the pantry and stared at him while he ate, in complete disbelief.

I know it is black eyed peas that are supposed to bring you good luck in the new year if you eat them, but I just can’t seem to get into that. I’ve never been the biggest fan of black eyed peas (love the band, not so much the food). So each year on the New Year, I choose to pretend beans, like kidney beans or black beans, have the same kind of “luck” power. And as luck would have it, there are some really tasty recipes out there featuring one of my favorite foods… beans!

Oh my gosh – my kids have been home for the summer exactly one week and they have become the most demanding little creatures. For some reason, they keep saying I’m supposed to feed them at certain times of the day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner? What? I didn’t sign up for that, did I?

As much as I love to cook, I will admit that I don’t love cooking three meals a day… and having to feed people for breakfast, lunch and dinner is just right at the point of too much hassel. Really. Don’t you agree?…
