#SoupaPalooza Broccoli Cheese Soup and Cottage Cheese Rolls

The SoupaPalooza linkup beings tomorrow and I am so ready! I thought and thought about what kind of soup to share with you for our second annual #SoupaPalooza. At first I was thinking I wanted to share some kind of French Onion soup. Then, after spending a few days last week with a sick kid, I thought a comforting Chicken Noodle Soup would be good. Finally, a shift in thinking occurred when I noticed my kids gobbling up broccoli night after night at dinner. It was then I remembered that I have never introduced them to the goodness of Broccoli Cheese Soup!

Is there a more perfect soup than a hot bowl of cheesy broccoli soup? I’m sure this could be easily up for debate, but for me, Broccoli Cheese Soup tops the list as one of my faves.

The recipe I use comes from an old church cookbook that I have hung onto through the years. It is a simple soup recipe with so much flavor… you are going to love it!

If you know me at all, you understand that soup without bread is a sin… so… I whipped up a batch of the most delicious Whole Wheat Cottage Cheese Rolls from the Red Star Yeast website! Since Red Star Yeast is my favorite yeast to use, I was thrilled when they jumped on board as a SoupaPalooza sponsor. They have so many recipes on their website, with clear instructions for use with a bread machine or by hand. The Whole Wheat Cottage Cheese Rolls were so soft and tender and the entire batch was gone before sunrise the next morning. We loved them that much! Make sure to check out the recipe on the Red Star Yeast website and browse around for other great bread recipes to pair with your soup!

While you’re browsing recipes… make sure to head over to the TidyMom blog and check out Cheryl’s Creamy Bacon Potato Soup. I wish I had a bowl to spoon up right now!

Before I share the Broccoli Cheese Soup recipe, just a quick reminder that tomorrow kicks off the 2nd annual Soupapalooza! Cheryl of TidyMom and I along with our sponsors would like to invite YOU to share up to two of your favorite soup, stew or chili recipes!! New posts, old posts, non-bloggers, bloggers… everyone is invited! Just click here if you need more information on how to join in on the 2nd annual SoupaPalooza linkup! There are some fabulous prizes to be won and you have a week to link up your recipes!

Here’s a soup for your SoupaPalooza! It’s one of my favorites. I submitted it to Gooseberry Patch website and they featured it in their Super Fast Slow Cooking cook book. It’s super easy to prepare! *Lazy-Day Soup* 28-oz. pkg. frozen diced potatoes with onion and peppers. 3 14-1/2 oz. cans chicken broth. 16-oz. jar pasteurized process cheese sauce (I use Cheeze Whiz). 10-3/4 oz. can cream of celery. 1 to 2 cups diced ham or Polish sausage, diced. *Mix together all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 8 hours, or on high setting for 3 hours. Serves 4 to 6. *Sometimes I mix up the ingredients for this soup the night before, refrigerate and pop in the slow cooker in the morning. Delicious!

This soup was really good! I featured it on my latest weekly meal plan at rainbowdelicious.com so I can share it with my readers. It was so creamy I think it would still even be good using whole milk instead of half and half! Although when I told my husband that he said, “No, I like it just the way it is!” He’ll definitely be wanting me to make your soup again. Thank you!

It’s a book giveaway! I often get people asking me for book recommendations. Talking books is one of my favorite things to do! So when @librofm gave me the opportunity to give away three audio copies of any audiobook I wanted to, I knew immediately which book I wanted to share.
.
@roblowe book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends is the audiobook I recommend to EVERYONE. It is a book I listened to years ago, not expecting to love it, but I absolutely did. First of all, Rob Lowe narrates...so there’s that lovely bonus. But Stories I Only Tell My Friends is a funny, raw, emotional, informative, peek inside of the life of a really fascinating celebrity.
.
I wasn’t a Rob Lowe super fan before. I haven’t watched West Wing (I know, I know), Brothers & Sisters, Parks & Rec, or any of his TV shows, but I have always been a HUGE Brat Pack fan. Well, after listening to this audiobook I am a big fan (and his other audiobook, Love Life, is great too).
.
Long story short, I have three codes through @librofm to give to 3 people. To enter, leave a comment on this post by midnight CST on 12/16 telling me what your favorite audiobook is and why! Also, definitely check out Libro.fm - the best audiobook platform that also gives back to local bookstores!

Alright, alright, alright! It’s time to talk about how we can support our local bookstore during the holidays and beyond! As you consider buying gifts this year, make sure you shop local for all the book people on your list! One unique and super easy way you can support your favorite local bookstores is with an audiobook subscription to @librofm Yes! Audiobooks! With Libro.fm you can financially support your local bookstore AND buy audiobooks all at the same time. Each audiobook purchase supports the independent book store of your choice! Do it for yourself and buy some audiobooks for friends too!
.

If you need audiobook ideas, hit me up. I’ve listened to so many great books this year that will make it on my top favorites list, including Greenlights by @officiallymcconaughey It’s narrated by the author and is so worth the listen! Your ears will thank you!
.
PS my favorite #localbookstore @rainydaybooks is under renovation which makes it even better that I can still safely support them from the comfort of my own home!

Have you ever dreamed of being a writer? 2 of the business coaching clients I’m currently working with have dreams of being a published fiction book author and cookbook author. Each week we’ve been chipping away at their big goals, making these dreams of theirs more and more of a reality. And each week I have this little nudging feeling inside that reminds me that writing a book was once a dream of mine...and I’ve gotten so far away from that dream. I barely even write anymore. Heck - writing an instagram caption is even a challenge. As someone who used to be a really good writer, that’s so frustrating to me. Where’d my voice go?
.

William Morrow Publishers recently sent me the book Make Me Rain: Poems and Prose by the incredibly gifted writer Nikki Giovanni. This book is full of poems and prose relevant to todays world. I imagined Giovanni walking around observing life, with a notebook tucked under her arm everywhere she went, and writing. Just pulling out the notebook and writing. I used to be that way and this beautiful book makes me want to write again.
.

Are you a writer? Do you journal, write poetry, write for fun, or are you working on a book? What does your writing practice look like? I think the biggest key for me is to just get back to it. Dedicate a time each day and at the very least just write - about life, observations, and more. Writer friends or journaling experts ...I’d love to hear what your writing practice looks like. Tips, tricks, ideas to help get what’s inside out on paper.
.

Thank you @williammorrowbooks for gifting me this beautiful book. It’s inspired and awakened something inside of me and I appreciate that so much!
