I had my first taste of Fireball whiskey a couple of years ago. No, I wasn’t at some crazy college party or throwing it down with a group of young party people. I was getting ready for an adult league tennis match of all things! One of my teammates offered everyone on our team a shot of fireball to take the nerves off before our match. And it worked.

I can’t claim that Fireball improved my tennis game, but I will say I won the match AND haven’t missed a pre-match Fireball shot since!…

Remembering a Friend {Boozy Chocolate Milkshake Recipe}

This Boozy Chocolate Milkshake Recipe is so creamy and delicious… you won’t believe what my secret ingredient is!

I’m not good at this… the whole dealing with the loss of a friend thing. I’m just not. I tend to avoid life and immerse myself in everything but confronting the fact that a friend has died.

This past week, the blogging community has rallied together to remember a dear friend of ours, Joan Hayes. Joan was the southern voice and tremendous talent behind the blog Chocolate, Chocolate and More. Last Thursday evening, word began to circulate that Joan had been complaining of a stomach ache, laid down on her couch and simply never woke up. It seemed inconceivable to me that my vivacious and full of life friend could just be gone. I had chatted with her just a few days prior and she was her normal, cheerful, joking self.

It turns out that Joan had suffered a heart attack. Friends, if you don’t click on any links in this post but one, make it be this. The signs of a heart attack in women are so much different than they are in men. Smoothies… I love them and my kids love them. They truly make serving a nutritious breakfast easy! The only problem is, I tend to lack creativity in the smoothie making department. I often go for an easy strawberry/banana smoothie 99% of the time. No one really complains about it, but why continue to do the same thing over and over when there are so many different smoothie mashups out there? It was high time my world was opened up to the wonderful world of smoothies!
