Celebrating 3 Years (Recipe: Monkey Bread)

  • Facebook
  • Twitter

A very special thanks to those of you who have signed up for Adopt a Blogger #4. There is still room, so head over to the Adopt a Blogger post and sign up! Matches won’t be made until after the New Year.

I just realized that my 3 year blog anniversary was yesterday. It slipped by, almost unnoticed.

Blogging has changed my life, so to allow my blog anniversary go by without much celebration would not be fair. Changed your life, you say? Isn’t that a bit overly dramatic, Kristen? Nope… blogging truly has changed my life. I have been re-acquainted with my love for writing and because of that have had some amazing opportunities come my way. I’ve met some of the coolest people ever through my blog… generous, humble, talented, beautiful, fun, witty, supportive folks. I am blessed to consider many of you my friends, and I thank you for that!

When things have been hard, you have helped me to get through it. You let me know that I was not alone… we are all in this thing called life, together. Your warm, thoughtful and supportive emails and comments have meant so much to me. I am truly humbled every day to wake up to new comments by you, so thank you!

When there were times of celebration, you have been there… cheering right along with me.

Through my kitchen successes and my kitchen flops, no matter what, the encouragement that I have received from you, my readers, has made soldiering on worth it!

I’ve been in a bit of a blogging/life funk lately, but I woke up today feeling renewed, inspired and ready to get things back in gear… to take Dine & Dish back to where it used to be. The food blogging world has gotten so big over the past 3 years… there is a lot of inspiration out there. I’m ready to start being inspired and to hopefully inspire others again.

Monkey Bread has been the most popular recipe of all the recipes on my blog. Funny how a recipe using canned biscuits (and is soooo fattening) is so popular, isn’t it? I think this recipe summarizes everything that I want my readers to get out of Dine & Dish. I hope that when you come here you find compelling stories, easy, family friendly recipes, with a little bit of monkey business thrown in. Thank you so much for a fantastic 3 years. I appreciate your support, friendship and love!

Monkey Bread

3 cans buttermilk biscuits
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
  1. Cut each biscuit in fourths with scissors.
  2. Shake biscuits in bag with sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Layer biscuits into greased tube pan.
  4. Melt margarine and brown sugar and boil 1 minute.
  5. Pour over biscuits.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
  7. Let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan.

I always enjoy your posts and appreciate the balance you strike between personal anecdotes and delicious recipes. Life and relationships come together around food, whether joyous occasion or otherwise, and it’s comforting to know that others (like you) are going through both the ups and downs that life can throw at all of us, handling both with as much grace as possible. Thanks for continuing to share!

    Best,
    Casey

I’ve never made monkey bread, and to be honest, I’m almost afraid to try. I’m afraid my husband and I will love it so much, we’ll want to fix it every weekend!! Maybe I’ll make it as a special treat for Christmas Eve morning.

I recently had monkey bread at one of my favorite Atlanta restaurants: it was made complete with a bourbon-peach creme anglaise dipping sauce. It was mind-blowingly good, and I’ve wanted to make it since. I dug up your recipe from my bookmarks; this will be a perfect weekday version to try!
