Chicago Cutlery DesignPro Knife Set Giveaway! CLOSED

  • Facebook
  • Twitter

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Nicole Newman! Thanks to all for entering.

Knives are one of those things you don’t really appreciate how bad the ones you have are until you have a set of really awesome ones. You don’t know that slicing an apple shouldn’t count as your upper arm workout for the day. It’s possible you may not understand cutting into a fresh loaf of bread doesn’t mean completely demolishing each piece as you try to carve each slice. A really GREAT set of knives can make all the difference in the kitchen, which is what I discovered when I received a set of Chicago Cutlery DesignPro Knives. A sharp, well designed knife can easily be your most important utensil and can save you so much time as you work.

This summer I struggled with simply slicing tomatoes with ease… my old knives were even recently professionally sharpened, they just weren’t built for the job. Now that I have a set of Chicago Cutlery DesignPro knives, I understand that slicing into a tomato isn’t supposed to be a struggle. A good knife will slide right through with ease.

Chicago Cutlery DesignPro Knives feature a well designed grip that guides your hand to the right position on the knife for superior control and cutting. I’ve noticed a huge difference when chopping, slicing, carving, etc. The design of the handle gives me the confidence and control I want.

My friends at Chicago Cutlery have offered to give one lucky Dine & Dish reader a pair of knives. Up for the giveaway is one (1) DesignPro Bread Knife and one (1) DesignPro Partoku knife (my new favorite)!

My husband is tired of replacing my knives when I break them (i.e. inserting into avocado pit, turning, and blade breaks off!). Would love a new set! Thanks!

Oh my goodness. To have good knives…seriously one of my pipe dreams. It takes me more time to prep vegetables for cooking than it does to cook *and* eat the food!!!

Everyone and I mean everyone needs a good set of knives in their kitchen. It would make cutting fruits and vegetables way easier than just dull ones.

  12. Sara McGee says

I got a “deal” on a set of knives and after 1 month of using them they have developed rust and lost a lot of their initial sharpness. SO disappointing, but I can’t afford a new set just yet. This would help ALOT.

I totally understand your pain! I didn’t know how amazing it was to not struggle with knives in the kitchen until I went to culinary school and got a knife kit! I have yet to buy knives for the house, I just use my school knives. So it cracks me up when anyone references cutting tomatoes with a dull knife. It is so sad:(. I would love a knife set at home, so I don’t have to go back and forth with my kit knives. I would cut tomatoes all day long!

I own a few great knives already and get nervous if anyone uses them in the kitchen without my permission. I’d love to try these Chicago Cutlery and see how they compare to my Wustof professional knives!

  19. Lori H says

I can relate to squished bread & tomatoes, along with other mangled fruits & veggies. I’m definitely due for a new set of knives – my current knives are a “vintage” Chicago Cutlery set I’ve had for about 25 years. They’ve served me well, and really deserve to retire.

  20. Jessie says

    September 5, 2012 at 12:12 pm

My parents have these knives and I love them. I’d love them because I’ve only really invested in one good santuku knife. I’d like a solid set for more versatility.

Um, slicing through those fresh tomatoes from the farmer’s market instead of mashing them.

I have a very nice set of knives, but they no longer hold their sharpness, which as you said, can be very frustrating when trying to slice a tomato. Or green onions. Or a nice cut of beef. I’ve been tempted to have mine professionally sharpened, but it sounds like that isn’t the solution. I’d love a new set and Chicago Cutlery was the brand I first had as a newlywed almost 30 years ago, so maybe it’s meant to be. Throw my name in the hat, please!
