It Began With a Lime {Recipe: Habanero Margarita}

Lime Wedge

It all began with a lime…

Well, a lime I was cutting up for a dinner recipe and a very long day full of one thing after another with my kids. My patience was shot and I welcomed the retreat into my kitchen to cook dinner.

As I was squeezing the wedges, the sweet citrus scent of the lime seduced me. I remembered the bottle of tequila I had in the pantry with the habanero pepper floating at the bottom and suddenly I couldn’t wait to indulge in a Habanero Margarita.

This Habanero Margarita recipe was shared with me by Jeffrey Saad, one of my favorite TV chefs whom I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know through my relationship with Bush’s Beans. Jeffrey is a master at infusing flavors and his margarita with a beautiful, fiery kick is one cocktail that does not disappoint. Go ahead… give into your senses and allow a Habanero Margarita take you away. Cheers! habanero margarita horiz

      That is MY kind of drink. One that burns your face off and you need a fire hose and a turbo sprinkler system on hand just in case things get out of control. And they will get out of control.

      Cheers to the picture of that lime at the top of your post!!! I wish I had the energy while making dinner to have a flavor seduce me. By 5pm, I need peace, quiet, and a nap – so not happening!

      Oh how I love a good margarita and this one just sounds so awesome. The sweet and sour lime, the hint of spiciness in the tequila. Yes! Perfect summer drink. Now if only summer would come to where I live…I think it might be too late. Beautiful photos Kristen!

      Wow – what a recipe! I don’t shy away from spicy food at all. My hubby thinks my taste buds might even be fried at this point (they’re not). But those habanero peppers are so HOT! Does marinating them in the tequila help? Either way, this looks like a good drink to try for the weekend. Bring on the heat!
